Yarra Valley wine and cheese adventures

Winter Escapes in the Yarra Valley: Wine, Cheese, and Country Charm

A winter weekend in the Yarra Valley feels nothing short of magical. Crisp air fills the sky, open fires crackle in every corner, and the aroma of fine food and wine welcomes you at every stop. Team COL set out to explore this stunning region with one goal — to taste every local cheese and wine we could find.

A Perfect Start at Chateau Yering

Our journey began at Chateau Yering, a timeless country estate surrounded by vineyards. The view alone felt worth the trip, but the warmth of the staff made it unforgettable. Dinner at Eleanor’s Restaurant delivered flavours that celebrated the Yarra Valley’s seasonal produce.

Our waiter recommended a Serrat Viognier to pair with our meal. That glass turned dinner into an experience. The wine’s bright fruit and subtle spice balanced every bite, highlighting why Yarra Valley wine and cheese experiencesdeserve their reputation.

Tasting Local Flavours at Yarra Valley Dairy

The next stop was Yarra Valley Dairy, a true haven for cheese lovers. A platter of hand-selected cheeses, local relishes, and warm bread offered simple joy. Every taste reflected the valley’s dedication to quality and craft. It’s easy to see why food lovers keep returning for more.

Relaxing at the Hargreaves Pub

We ended our day at The Hargreaves Pub, where hearty plates and locally brewed beer brought comfort to the cold evening. The pasta came out fresh and generous, and the chat potatoes stole the show — crispy, perfectly seasoned, and impossible to resist.

A Weekend to Remember

By the end of our trip, our car brimmed with bottles of wine, wedges of cheese, and sweet memories of laughter and flavour. The Yarra Valley offered everything we love — great food, incredible wine, and genuine hospitality.

If you’re planning a winter getaway, make the Yarra Valley your destination. You’ll find warmth, flavour, and unforgettable moments in every glass and every bite.
