On a lazy Saturday afternoon after a few hours of city shopping I stopped at a little cafe set in the Old Melbourne GPO on bustling Elizabeth Street. Being vegetarian can sometimes be tricky when eating out but not at the Federal Coffee Palace.
There was a delicious sounding menu selection which the accented waitress recited perfectly and I found myself settling on a minted pea, beans and rocket salad with goats cheese and brown lentils and my comrade devoured a roast vegetable thick toastie melt – yum, heaven.
Not to waste a perfect opportunity we supported our meal with a fruit intense Sparkling Brut from the Yarra Valley – Wild River aaaaahhhhh the serenity.
